The Sunken Place: A mental state which was introduced in the film, Get Out. It occurs when a person is coerced into a hypnotic trance, and they lose all control of their bodily functions, ultimately becoming a passive spectator to their own lives.
Get Out was released on the 24th of February 2017, and it was written and directed by Jordan Peele. It explores the concept of whiteness inhibiting and suppressing black consciousness. Peele does this by constructing a story whereby white characters insert their brains into black people, repressing their thoughts and taking control of their bodies to use them as their own.
The white people in the movie take over black bodies, because they are fascinated with the perceived physical attributes – like strength, speed and a sizeable penis – that black people acquire at birth which are seen as an advantage. They are also interested in appropriating the black culture, as one white character in the movie says: “Black is in fashion” Read more
Impactful words by Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston) from the hit series Breaking Bad. Uttering words that are meant to legitimize his status as a dangerous entity in the series.
The end of season four in the series left me feeling conflicted, in the sense that, they took the main protagonist of the story and slowly turned him into a merciless murderer, which made me want to love him and hate him simultaneously.
Movies and Television sometimes blur the line of morality in their content, creating a sympathetic protagonist, but who has more or less the same moral compass as the antagonist. Read more

My favourite animated television show is Family Guy. Created by Seth MacFarlane, this show pushes the boundary of what an animated show can become. With edgy humour, witty dialogue, socio-political commentary and loads of immature jokes; Family Guy is the one show I can guarantee will always get a laugh out of me on every episode. But sometimes I find myself struggling to laugh at certain jokes. Let’s look at this clip from a cutaway joke made on the 14th episode of the 12th season:

The Wonder Woman movie is schedule to be released on the 2nd of June 2017, and it is a highly anticipated film which is expected to be the pinnacle of Female led Superhero movies thus far. With movies like Catwoman and Elektra – both featuring female lead characters – being critical and financial bombs, it seems like Wonder Woman is set to pave the way for all future female superheroes in movies.
